About This Item

London, England: Adam & Charles Black, 1949. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Near Fine/Fair. Rather than updating or revising his very well-received earlier work, "Trout Flies: A Discussion & Dictionary,'' this new work is Brand New, maintaining some of the original plates & adding new ones! In 376 pages, with 140 flies illustrated in full color on plates throughout text. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1949, this hardcover 8vo has green cloth over boards with publisher's blindstamp to rear board, lettered in bright gilt to spine. Condition is Near Fine: very clean, binding strong & straight, pages creamy white with modest tanning, heavier to edges. All plates are virtually pristine: colors bright & sharp, margins clean. Former owners had taped newspaper articles to both front endpapers, which have left tape residue. Name in pen there, too. The price-clipped DJ is only Fair, with discoloration from old tape repairs & large chip missing from lower spine. Nicely protected against further damage in new clear mylar cover. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (PST); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
