First edition. A detailed and comprehensive dictionary of reference for Chinese mythology, including many varied myths from regional and cultural traditions. Much of the mythology recorded from Greater China involves exciting stories of fantastic beings, the use of magical powers, and exotic mythological settings. Compiled by Edward Theodore Chalmers Werner, a British diplomat in Qing Dynasty China and sinologist specialising in superstition, myths and magic in China. In the original black cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Very Good Indeed
