No bumps or rubs, minor shelf wear to upper & lower edges, corners and to head and tail of spine. GD++* Jacket condition: None. ND* Contents condition: PRIVATE COPY NOT EX-LIBRARY. Patterned end papers (Olive Everyman design with text). Top edge coloured (dark grey), and slightly faded. Neat gift inscription, dated 1927, to half title. Clean, crisp, tight and bright with no reading wear, no marks to text, very slight marks to fore & lower-edges. Hinges very slightly strained, otherwise no visible faults. VG+.* Illustrations: None.* Pages: 697 pp. text. xxii pp., index at rear.* Description: No notes are needed to describe Pepys diary but this text is that prepared by The Rev J. Smith who deciphered it from the original shorthand M.S. in the Pepysian Library with notes by Richard Lord Bray Brooks. This volume covers the diaries from 1665 to 1669 and includes an extended index of names and places which, I believe covers both volumes.* A NEAR FINE text copy of the 1925 reprint with some age and cover wear reducing it to GD++.*
