Originally published in 1971, this is the 1982 reprint edition, published in by the Marion County Historical Commission (Texas) . A young couple registered as man and wife, A. Monroe, in 1877 at the Brooks House in Jefferson, Texas. The young girl's name was "Bessie" and she was quickly nicknamed "Diamond Bessie" after the locals saw her large diamonds. The husband left town and two weeks later the girls body was found. She had been murdered. The husband, whose real name was Rothschild, was brought back to Jefferson and tried for murder. Over the next four years the finest legal talent in Texas dueled over whether Rothschild was guilty. Illustrated. 183 pages. Dust jacket has minor wear, no chips or tears. Dust jacket and book are in Near Fine condition. ; Standard Book Size. .
