A novel of adventure and romance, with a bit of ''comedy of errors'' thrown in. In the upheaval of the French Revolution, beautiful copper-haired Genevieve Saint-Georges flees France to England, vowing one day to return to free her imprisoned parents. In the meantime she is forced into marriage with her betrothed-from-childhood cousin. They have always cordially disliked one another -- and little does Justin Trevelyan know that during his absence his wife dons pirate garb and rescues French aristocrats from guillotine row. On such a mission she encounters a fellow masked rebel, Captain Diabolique (enter comedy of errors -- in reality her husband).
