He was the first to realize he physiological importance of ferments and gases, and indeed invented the word 'gas.' He introduced the gravimetric idea in the analysis of urine." (See Garrison Morton 665). 10 pages of translator's preface, 75 pages of Helmont's work. With some marginal marks. Slight water stain on some pages.
