Consisting of "58 sketches of American life, a hundred years ago, which Audubon interpolated into the text of his monumental work, "The Birds of America.''' In 349 ages + an Introduction by Western Reserve Biology professor F. H. Herrick. Preface, errata slip laid in, map endpapers. A FIRST EDITION, first printing from 1926, this hardcover book has rich black cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine. Condition is VG: exceptionally clean, binding straight & strong, pages lightly tanned; no foxing. Former owner's name in faded pen on ffep & half-title page.The unclipped DJ (with orig $4.50 partially scratched out) is downgraded to Fair-Good- due to a darkened spine, large chip missing from foot of spine & smaller chips elsewhere, light soil, general edgewear all around.
