Toronto: Macmillan Company of Canada, 1926. 232 pp, 7 3/4" H. Reddish brown cloth with gilt lettering on spine and front board. In this early de la Roche novel, predating Jalna's success, a beautiful young woman, Delight Mainprize, upsets the balance of the small Ontario town of Brancepeth, attracting admiration from the male population and creating jealousy among the ladies. Previous owner's name/address in pencil on front free endpaper, minor weakness to paper on inside hinges, corner crease and tear on page leaf 181/182 - archivally taped, wear at corners and top/bottom of spine, slight lean to spine, light edge wear, some darkening to edges of text block, faint cup-ring on front board, light general rubbing - small area on rear board, slight loss of gold in lettering on spine.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket.
