Portrait and 9 illustrations. Black cloth, spine lettering silver. Cloth in fine condition, previous owner used white-out to cover the name, rest of interior in near fine condition. Dustjacket price clipped, small chips/fraying at edges, slightly soiled, various wear along flaps folds. Fanny Burney's first book Evelina (written anonymously) was praised by Samuel Johnson. In her famous Diary she portrays those who frequented her house: Johnson, Mrs. Thrale, David Garrick, Sheridan, others. ; 10 illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 340 pages .
