White faux vellum binding with gilt ruling on spine and gilt-titled leather spine label. Errata page. Text in French. Ownership stamp of Ernest Francis Marie Singy on title page and of Harry Bober on rear pastedown endpaper. Cardinal de la Luzernes post-Revolution defense of the Gallican Articles that outlined the supremacy of the French monarchy and French church hierarchy over papal authority in many ecclesiastical matters. The Gallican Articles arose during the power struggle between French King Louis XIV and Pope Innocent XI. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 495 pages .
