EA dieses Separatabdrucks aus der Schweizerischen Kirchen-Zeitung, Nr. 31 - 37, 1936. - «Kaspar Meglinger, getauft 16.8.1595 Luzern, gestorben um 1670 Luzern, kath., von Luzern. Sohn des Michael, Steinmetzen und Baumeisters aus Württemberg, und der Verena Forman. [...] Ab 1609 am Jesuitengymnasium Luzern, danach Lehre beim Maler Jakob von Wil. Als Maler ist M. erstmals 1616 fassbar. Zu seinem Jugendwerk zählt u.a. das ihm zugeschriebene Bild des hl. Eligius in der Kaplanei Gormund. 1622 trat er der Gesellschaft zum Fritschi bei, der Luzerner Gesellschaft der Steinmetzen und Maler. 1630 ist er als Pfleger der Lukasbruderschaft sowie 1647-55 als Sust- und Waagemeister belegt. Ab 1651 gehörte er zu jenen Stadtbürgern, die gegen die regierenden Patrizier protestierten. Die 1626-37 entstandenen, ursprünglich 72 Tafeln des Totentanzzyklus für die Spreuerbrücke in Luzern gelten als sein wichtigstes Werk. Zugeschrieben wird M. ein 1624-34 in der Wallfahrtskirche Adelwil entstandener Zyklus, der in je zwölf Teilen die Geschichte des hl. Gallus und der hl. Einbeth erzählt. Ausserdem schuf er ein Bild für den dortigen Hochaltar. 1635 malte er ein Bildnis zur Klostergründung von Werthenstein, 1644 die ganzfigurigen Bildnisse des städt. Bauherren Ludwig Meyer und des Architekten der Luzerner Hofkirche, Jakob Kurrer, sowie drei Altarbilder des hl. Mauritius, des hl. Leodegar und des hl. Benedikt. Um 1642/43 schuf er gemäss Zuschreibung die Hauptblätter für drei Altäre in der Galluskapelle von Beromünster zum Leben des hl. Antonius. Die Tafeln befanden sich ursprünglich im Kreuzgang des Franziskanerklosters Luzern. M. betätigte sich auch als Fassmaler, bemalte Plastiken und führte dekorative Malereien aus (Luzerner Hofkirche, Werthensteiner Kreuzgang, Wallfahrtskirche Hergiswald). Über sein Spätwerk ist nichts bekannt, doch gilt er als fruchtbarster Maler der Zentralschweiz zwischen 1620 und 1660» (HLS). 010

If the claim turns out to be unsubstantiated, or the damage is the result from improper handling by the customer etc., all the costs are charged to the customer. Returns are only accepted with the invoice enclosed. Damages during shipment have to be notified within 48 hours. Otherwise the refund expires. Return upon dissatisfaction is excluded.

We are subject only to Swiss law. Place of venue is Zurich.
