Dust jacket rubbed, with numerous tears (largest is at fold between spine and rear panel, about 5" long. Jacket flap corners lightly clipped. Large chips to top and tail of jacket spine. Jacket drawing by George F. Kelley and Samuel H. Bryant. Light wear to black boards with bright gold letters on spine. Bottom front board corner lightly pushed in. Age toning to endpapers. Previous owner's name inked on title page, otherwise unmarked. Pages clean.
Synopsis
Surfeit of Lampreys is a detective novel by Ngaio Marsh; it is the tenth novel to feature Roderick Alleyn, and was first published in 1941. The plot concerns the murder of a British peer, a theme to which Marsh would return; the novel was published as Death of a Peer in the United States.
