About This Item
Murray, an American clergyman became as "Adirondack Murray" after a series of works which popularized the Adirondack area in Upstate New York. An impassioned outdoorsman, Murray was an early advocate for the conservation movement and promoted health and well being by immersing oneself in nature. So popular indeed were his articles on the Adirondacks, people flocked in droves from the city to get out into nature. It is said that the term "vacation" came about from this movement from the city to the wilderness. In this book he travels by railroad along the North-West coast of America and British Columbia. Notes on wild game, angling, and scenery.
