David Mill was an 18th-century Germany orientalist known for his reformed theological views. While professor of oriental studies at the University of Utrecht, Mill wrote a number of dissertations on Mahomet and Islam, Arabic language etymology, Hebrew manuscripts, and speeches of Muhammed. One particularly desirable treatise is Mill's 'Mohammedism before Mohammed'.
This exceedingly rare first edition of these dissertations is illustrated with six folding engraved plates of various language examples, in text illustrations of coins and medals, and a thorough Bible index of references.
