About This Item
Synopsis
Originally published in 1929, and subsequently banned in her hometown of Strichen, Scotland, Lorna Moon's novel Dark Star was considered too racy, and hitting too close to home for the small town neighbors who saw themselves in her writings. Dark Star , like it's author, was ahead of it's time. The story is about Nancy, a young girl from a rural Scottish village with extreme fantasies of romance and high lineage. It explores the social structures, sexual interactions, and the hypocracy that surrounds each small village. This book was the author's first, and is the basis for the George Hill film Min and Bill .
