New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers,, 1933. The Charlie Watts copy First edition, first printing, of one of the author's scarcest books, in a beautiful, bright example of the rare dust jacket. This copy is a first issue, with "F-H" on the copyright page and no price on the front flap of the review jacket, as issued. The novel was adapted into a film in 1934, starring Edward G. Robinson. Provenance: from the collection of the Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts (1941-2021), with his posthumous bookplate. Octavo. Original green cloth, spine and front cover lettered and decorated in red and green, patterned endpapers. With dust jacket. Cloth lightly rubbed at extremities, small burn mark to front cover, contents clean; jacket lightly nicked at extremities, a couple of short closed tears, flaps without price as issued: a very good copy in near-fine jacket.
