New York: Street & Smith, 1900. Hardcover. Fine. Hardcover in yellow cloth decorated and lettered in black and red. Title page printed in red and black. 192 pp. Fine, tight copy, trace of light soiling to the rear board. Ownership signature front free endpaper. An adventure/mystery novel concerning a bag of priceless jewels the Colonel Middleton is commissionmed to take from India to its owner Danvers in England. He delivers them successfully but shortly afterward they are stolen. The book was first published anonymously in 1884; Chomondeley was an English author whose bestselling novel "Red Pottage" gained her entry to the literary world of her time.
