Oblong quarto, French edition, unpaginated with 2-page introduction, 9 pages of captions, 79 gravure plates, printed boards, signed on the title page by Freed. Humanistic photos of Jewish communities in the U.S., Israel and Europe. Freed, born in New York of Russian Jewish parents, was a photojournalist whose work was part of the first Concerned Photographer exhibit. Cornell Capa, who invented and financed the project, defined the concerned photographer as a "humanitarian-with-a-camera" whose activity "demands personal commitment and concern for mankind (see Robert Hirsch, "Seizing the Light," p. 333). Condition of this book: Fine in fine jacket. Size: Quarto. Text is in French. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting.
