Original publisher's blue cloth, lettered gilt at the spine and decorated in blind. Prize advertisement at the front reads: The Directors of the Scottish Temperance League, having offered a Prize of �100, sterling, for the ""best Temperance Tale, illustrative of the injurious effects of Intoxicating Drinks, the advantages of Personal Abstinence, and the demoralising operations of the Liquor Traffic... unanimously gave their award in favour of the tale, entitled 'Danesbury House'. The author's first book.
