The text is illustrated with black and white photographs with a very occasional black-and-white illustrations navy blue coloured cloth covered boards with silver embossed illustration to the front panel and silver coloured titles to the back strip Photographic dustwrapper with black and yellow coloured titles to the front panel and yellow coloured titles to the backstrip. The author, then dance critic of The New York Times, " ... traces the development of the dance from its primitive beginnings, through folk and early ballroom dancing, court and modern ballet, pageants and spectacles, to the latest forms, with a chapter on the films."  from front fold over panel blurb Rubbing of the book edges and panels with a little bumping to the lower book corners. Age toning of the free front end pages, but, the text itself is clean and bright. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and lower back strip edge; the top back strip edge is missing the first quarter inch and there is a small piece missing to the top left hand corner of the front panel. Rubbing, creasing and some tears to the dustwrapper edges. Rubbing of the panels and some handling marks can be seen rear panel. A few marks to the verso. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall.
