About This Item
Melbourne: Melbourne University Press (MUP), 1981. 1st ed.. Hardback octavo, dustjacket, very good condition (in very good dustjacket), black & white drawings & plates, top edge foxed, tiny scuff rear cover jacket (minor edgewear), owner's written name. 178 pp. Michael cannon relates the story of John Norton, who was a gifted but erratic Sydney newspaper publisher and politician. A compelling story of an extraordinary character who used radical scurrilous journalism and politics (his âTruth' newspaper) to achieve personal goals, doing a lot of good and harm along the way. Most of the book is an anthology articles and editorials that Norton published in his newspaper. .
