About This Item
London/St.Petersburg, Florida: The Royal Academy of Arts/The Dali Museum, 2017. Book. Fine. Hardcover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Hardcover. Condiition: Fine, with just a hint of shelfwear to covers. Binding sound, no inscriptions. 222pp. Many colour and b/w illustrations. This catalogue was produced to accompany the exhibition of work by Dali and Duchamp held at the Royal Academy of Arts, London from 7 October 2017 to 3 January 2018 which then toured to The Dali Museum St.Petersburg, Florida from 5 February to 27 May 2018. The catalogue brings into dialogue two of the 20th century's most famous artists: Marcel Duchamp (1887-1968) and Salvador Dali (1904-1989), virtuouso painter of fabulous visions. Although at first glance they might appear polar opposites, the two men were united from their meeting in the 1930s by a firm friendship, rooted in a unique combination of originality, humour and scepticism. The catalogue includes contributions by Dawn Ades, William Jeffett, and Ed Ruscha among others..
