Published in 1896 by The Chicago Daily News Co. the days are keyed to the year 1897. First Edition in this format. Many of the hundreds of recipes give name & address credit to the cooks who submitted them. An amazing book--the first cook book I have seen that actually allows you to see exactly what people ate for an entire year in the late 1800's--Holiday menus are particularly interesting. Seldom found in nice condition this is an appealing copy--light wear to the covers--previous owner name at the front in pencil--bit of wrinkling at top of last few pages due to some previous damp exposure.
