DJ edges worn: small pieces missing. The friendship between the United States and Russia lasted 150 years, from the American Revolution to the fall of the Czarist Regime. The author focuses particularly on the American Civil War and the purchase of Alaska, but there is also material on Theodore Roosevelt and the Russo-Japanese War, the attempted Russian empire in Hawaii, and the Russian priest Father Dimitri of Loretto, Pennsylvania, who struggled to maintain a mission on the American frontier, among many other topics.
