Small markings on back board and interior. Accordion-fold binding is tight, but slightly skewed. This accordion-fold volume is a delightfully tactile exploration of the Tuscon-based cut-paper artist Frederick Sommer. Read in one direction, it presents Frederick Sommer's surrealist photographs of his cut-paper sculptures; the other direction presents photographs by designer Jonathan Clark of Frederick Sommer at work in his studio. Mountain View, CA: Artichoke Editions, 1998. First edition. Hardcover. Fine. Square 12mo. (6"). Paper covered boards (one side is khaki, the other side gray), each side with a mounted (2-3/4") black & white square photo. This work is assembled in a two part accordion-fold format, with 10 cut-paper photographs by Sommer opening on one side and 12 photographs by Jonathan Clark, of Sommer working on a cut-paper design opening on the other side. This work includes texts by both artists. It is housed, as issued, in clear mylar band with printed khaki paper spine lettered in black. A fine, as new copy.
