About This Item
New York: The Mystery League, Inc., Publishers, 1930. First edition. Small abrasion and tape ghost to upper corner of front free end paper, a nearly fine copy in a nearly fine dust jacket with a 15 mm closed tear and light crease to upper front panel, some mild toning. Not uncommon but this is a much better than usual dust jacket. (31033). Octavo, pp. [1-2] [1-4] 5-6 [7-8] 9-315 [316-318: blank] [note: first and last leaves are blanks], original decorated black cloth, front and spine panels stamped in green. A German spy impersonates a vampire. "THE CURSE OF DOONE is typical Horler, which is to say it is inspired nonsense ... This and Horler's other novels are high camp by today's standards. THE CURSE OF DOONE is just one of several that can be considered, for their hilarious prose, pomposity, and absurd plots, as classics of their type." - Pronzini and Muller, 1001 Midnights, pp. 380-81. Hubin (1994), p. 413.
