About This Item

Inscribed by the still-anonymous author to verso of front fly: "Richard Lee Esq / with the authors kind regards / Sep' 1850" Corrigenda to verso of title followed by tipped-in Errata. Brown patterned cloth, yellow coated end-papers, all edges gilt. Wear to hinges (see image) otherwise an exceptional copy of a frail book. To this work was later added a three page extension of the Supplement entitled "Minutes of Evidence before Select Committee on the African Slave Trade in the House of Lords, in 1849…" which sites (and is also accompanied by) the folding "Plan of the Slave Ship Brooks" borrowed from Thomas Clarkson's History of the Rise, Progress, and Accomplishment of the Abolition of the African Slave-Trade (London, 1808).
