About This Item
First American edition hardcover, published by Viking, 1937. The story of Georgie,a frequent croquet player, who learns that there is something evil at work in the quiet English district known as Cainsmarsh. Novella length at 98 pages, 5-1/4" X 8-1/2". No dust jacket. Light gray colored cloth covered boards. Cover boards are flat, showing some smudges from use and a small stain mark on the back panel in the spine gutter, about 1/2" long. Former owner's bookplate on the inside front paste-down, about 3" X 4", partially removed. No further writing or ownership marks besides that bookplate. Not a library discard copy. Binding is tight and square. Edges of the text block are relatively clean considering the age of the book. Attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.
