About This Item

New York:: Farrar, Straus, & Giroux,, 1975.. First Printing of the First US Edition. A Fine tight copy in a Fine bright unclipped dust jacket. This early collection of poems by Hesse date from the same period as Steppenwolf but was only issued in an initial edition of 1000 copies in 1928 and not reprinted until this edition. This bilingual edition of Hesse's autobiographical poems features many poems never reprinted in his lifetime and concern the "misery and despair of sensual life." This is a very uncommon Hesse title.
