About This Item

New York: Viking Penguin, 2007. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Hurwitz's eighth crime-thriller is a bibliomystery set in Los Angeles and featuring Drew Danner, a crime novelist who wakes in a hospital with no memory of being found by police with a knife in his hand convulsing over the bloody body of his former fiancee. Not knowing whether he's guilty or innocent, Danner begins to reconstruct the crime even as the police build a case against him. Then another young woman is murdered in the same fashion. Signed by Hurwitz on the front end page. A remainder mark on the bottom edge of the text, o/w text and boards are clean and unmarked, tight and square; the dustjacket shows only a touch of edgewear. A collectable copy.

Synopsis

Drew Danner , an L.A.-based crime novelist, awakens in a hospital bed with a scar on his head, blood under his nails, and a cop by his side. Accused of murdering his ex-fiancée, Drew has no memory of the crime but reconstructs the story the only way he knows how—as a novel. As he searches the dark corridors of his life and the city he loves, another young woman is similarly murdered and Drew must confront the very real possibility of his own guilt. A thrilling piece of contemporary L.A. noir, The Crime Writer is sure to boost Hurwitz’s profile as one of the coming masters of the genre.
