A very good copy in a lovely early fine leather binding by Bickers & Son. Full dark blue calf. Spine with raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments double ruled, decorated and letered in gilt. Double gilt ruled borders on boards. Marbled endpaper sand edges. Neat prize presentation on front blank endpaper. A lovely copy in a highly attractive early binding.:

Nims and Knight. Troy. New York. 1889. Calendar printed on 18 stiff sheets of card. (5.9 x 4.5 inches). Complete. Each leaf has a litho colour illustration depicting a scene from Japanese life, printed after fine water colours by J. Pauline Sunter. Twelve of the cards have the month dates printed to the side of the illustration. The lithography is by G. H Beuk & Co, New York. The cards are held together by two metal rings through punched holes at the top, and have a white silk cord, with tassles, threaded through. The cards are stiff white coated paper with silver edges. The front card has damage to the two holes and is now not attached but all others are firmly in place. The front cover is also a little dusty but generally the whole calendar is very good and features some very attractive illustrations. A rare item. No copies listed on Worldcat.

Beautifully illustrated with colour frontis, protected by a printed tissue guard, and 6 full colour tipped in plates, plus 98 line drawings and decorative borders throughout. Finely bound in early half red morocco leather binding by Bayntun (Riviere) of Bath. Spine with five raised bands, the compartments ruled in blind and lettered and decorated in gilt. Red cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. There is a mild stain to the leather at the bottom of the book but overall this is a very attractive copy of this finely illustrated book.

Delux edition in Publishers full dark green morocco leather with gilt lettering to the spine and the front board decorated with the Oman coat of arms, below a royal crown, all in gilt. Green marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Green silk bookmark sewn in. Housed in a green morocco covered slip-case with the same gilt tooling to the front panel. A fine copy of this beautiful book, the first detailed study of the remote regions of Oman from Musandam in the north, to the Hajar Mountains, Dhofar and the Empty Quarter, via the coastline that extends some 1,000 miles. --- Only 3 copies listed on Worldcat, in Oman, UAE, and Lebanon.

Original publishers paper wraps, printed in gold, both front - which is illustrated, and rear, are bound in. Attractive early leather binding of full red pebble grained morocco. Gilt ruled and dotted line, with floral devices, design to both boards and spine. Front board lettered in gilt. Board edges with gilt dots. Marbled endpapers. Eight line poetic inscription to the front blank free endpaper. Faded light purple ex library stamp to the title page and the leaf with the inscription. Overall a very good and attractively bound copy of this uncommon little book. Copac shows just 3 copies of this 1858 edition, and one of those listed as only having 10 of the plates.

(8.7 x 5.7 inches) .xiv,756pp. Neat previous owner name and date on front blank free endpaper, otherwise a fine clean copy throughout. Finely bound in full tan calf by Bayntun of Bath. Raised bands with gilt wavy lines on the spine. The compartments ruled and decorated in gilt. Red and green Morocco labels, double ruled and lettered in gilt. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Gilt inner dentelles. Faint mark to the front board and a crack to the inner front endpaper, but the board is firm and tight and there is no cracking to the leather. Overall a near fine copy of this classic work.

Rebel not taken publishing, London. 2018. FIRST EDITION. One of 1,000 copies, numbered and signed by Osborne and Reichardt and with each artist's embossed stamp beneath their signature. Large 8vo. (9.8 x 7 inches). 172pp. Beautifully printed and illustrated throughout in full colour alongside essays and descriptions from multiple artists and examples of their defaced notes. Black cloth binding with gilt lettering to the spine and front board. A fine copy in fine dustwrapper of this fascinating look into a little known art medium.

Hodder & Stoughton, Limited. London. 1957. 8vo. Bright, clean copy finely bound in mid twentieth century full red morocco leather binding by Morrell. Spine with raised bands, each with gilt piping. Spine compartments ruled and lettered in gilt. Ronald Knox's Monsignor coat of arms with the motto "Lux in Tenebris Lucet" (Light shines in the darkness) stamped in gilt to the centre of the front board. Single gilt ruled border on all the boards. All edges gilt. Double ruled border on the turn-ins. Marbled endpapers. A little darkening to the spine but overall a fine and beautiful presentation of this translation. --- A controversial figure, Knox converted from Anglicanism to Catholicism in 1917. His major work was this translation of the Saint Jerome Latin Vulgate bible which he started in 1936. The translation was finally published, including the New Testament in a single volume, in 1949.
