A deluxe Franklin Library first edition of Dee Brown's novel, which is a story about Creek Indian Mary Musgrove and her descendants. The family endured many challenges as the United States expanded westward. With illustrations by Joseph Isom and a two-page map showing pioneer trails across the American West. Issued as part of the publisher's First Edition Society series which preceded the Holt, Rinehart & Winston trade edition. Includes a prefatory note by the author. One in a limited edition of an unspecified number of copies. --- Bound in full brown bonded leather covers with three raised bands on spine. Text presented on quality papers. Spine titling, elaborate decorations to covers and spine, and textblock edges (AEG) all in bright gilt. Brown silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon placemarker. Volume lacks a dust jacket (as issued). --- A very nice copy: bright, newish and probably unread, but with slight scratching to textblock edge gilding.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; (20), 398 pages .
