New Yorik; (1960): George Braziller. First Edition. Octavo. 159 pages. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper by the author "To Lou Getoff/Cordially/Theodor Treik/ Dec. 30, 1959." A psychanalytic inquiry into the myth of Eve. This "archaeological psychoanalysis" of the Genesis story in which Reik suggests that Israelite tradition reversed an earlier pattern in which the man was taken from the woman. Inscribed to his friend Louis Getoff who after finishing his career as a major psychoanalyst in Manhattan, retired to Sedona where he established the first synagogue in Sedona and also was instrumental in the founding of the Sedona Jewish Community. Bound in black cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt, thin line of fading to upper edge of boards. top edge-stained pink. A very nice copy in unclipped pictorial dust jacket lettered in orange and white, spine lettered in white, light wear to corners and spine ends.
