About This Item

Boston: Little, Brown, 1944. A humorous "Mr. Blandings" type description of the various headaches of country living, "arranged as a glossary & lavishly embellished" by Lawson. A couple of lines from the opening poem hint at the wonders within: "Sing a song of expense/A pocket full of bills/The garden full of rose bugs/Termites in the sills. . . ." Near fine (lightly soiled cover edges) in very good dust jacket (price-clipped, edgworn most noticeable at the top and bottom of spine; water stain on lower back panel.) See scans. 70 pages. If Lawson's drawings remind you of some you may have seen in a particular edition of Munro Leaf's "Ferdinand the Bull," that's not a coincidence; Lawson's drawings of the hapless country dweller remind me of his banderilleros in "Ferdinand." . 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Illus. by Robert Lawson.
