This is William Thackeray's lively account of a journey hi made in 1844 on the first commercial steamboat service to the Eastern Mediterranean, which took him via Spain, Malta, Rhodes and Athens to visit the newly fashionable extensions to the Grand Tour of Constantinople, Jerusalem and Cairo. Book is very fine with minor bumps at spine ends. Book is spotless and unmarked. Priced (L16.50) jacket is fine with slight wrinkling at spine corners. A very nice, and quite interesting book, with introduction by Sarah Searight.
