About This Item

New York: Thomas Y. Crowell, 1971. Unpaginated, oblong (8 1/2" H x 10 3/4" D) - blue cloth with gilt lettering on spine, gilt illustration on front board. Pictorial endpapers, illustrated in color throughout with Tasha Tudor's charming paintings of life in Corgiville. "In Corgiville, the biggest event of the year is the Fair. And the most exciting thing at the fair is the goat race. Caleb Corgi has spent many months training his goat Josephine for the big event. But Edgar Tomcat's goat was fast, too, and Caleb knew that Edgar was not above indulding in some foul play in order to win. Caleb tried to guard Josephine carefully before the race, but, even so, an evil trick of Edgar's nearly put her out of the running. The sights, sounds, and smells, the fun and excitement of a typical smalltown fair, are captured with humor and affection both in the text and in the marvelously detailed watercolor paintings." Some areas of light fading to the cloth colour on the front board, book is very slightly bowed. Dust jacket has several tears and pieces missing, light water stain on the the rear flap-fold.. Not Signed. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good+/Fair. Illus. by Tasha Tudor..
