First edition, 8vo, coloured illustrated dust jacket over red cloth boards with gilt titles on spine. 192pp. Dust jacket unclipped , slightly sunned at spine and with a little edge wear. Nice and clean inside, in very good condition. The lives of two brothers and those around them before and after the second world war. One seems initially successful and the ideal man, whilst the other leads a less conventional life in London, as an artist drifting between gay bars and having encounters. Both lives have their moments and similarities and Brooke explores their fragile existence.
