Bound in green cloth with beveled boards, and an illustration on the city skyline and crescent in gilt and black. End papers coated brown. Some light edge wear, and a faint vertical crease on the front board. Title page lightly toned. Very slightly canted back to front. Still, an attractive copy, Very Good +. De Amicis' classic work and perhaps the best 19th century description of the city on the Bosporus, Constantinople. Translated from the 7th Italian edition by Caroline Tilton.
