About This Item
Paperback / softback. New. Presents a description of the Spanish landing in Mexico in 1520 and their amazement at the city, the exploitation of the natives for gold and other treasures, the expulsion and flight of the Spaniards, their regrouping and eventual capture of the Aztec capital.
Synopsis
This man was a soldier who served under Hernan Cortez and was an eyewitness to the conquest of Mexico. In his journal, he describes what he saw of the indian culture and how he as a Spaniard felt. He was an ordinary soldier and his journal attempt was in response to the contempt he had for the writings which appeared for profit and which he viewed as fabrications. I'd like to see an English translation of this marvelous book.
