Green paper over boards with red cloth overlay on the spine; bright gilt lettering on the spine. 279 pp 8vo. The author entered WWII in late 1941 as an American serving the British as an Ambulance Driver which took him over the Middle East and finally to the jungles of Burma after his officer training for the Indian Army of the British Raj and assigned to the 8th Gurkha Rifles, 4th Battalion. Attached to General Slim's 14th Army where he and his comrades fought their way through Burma and on to Rangoon against heavy Japanese opposition. Rising to company commander, the author tells of his experiences in jungle warfare and with the legendary Gurkha soldiers during the days of Britain's greatest Glory in WWII. A clean very presentable copy.
