The epic poems of Homer, including the Iliad (translated by Andrew Lang, Walter Leaf and Ernest Myers); and the Odyssey (translated by S. H. Butcher and Andrew Lang). Rendered into English language prose translations. Volume wrapped in red jacket with image of ancient warriors on the move to front panel. --- In Toledano spine G4 / charcoal cloth / gilt titling on red spine blocks / gilt-stamped ML torchbearer on front cover & spine / red topstain / blank GA style endpapers / jacket style Gc, verso advertises 274 titles in ML catalog. Likely published c.1940 (no publication date appears in volume). ML #G19.1. --- A generally well-preserved copy: clean, tightly-bound and unmarked except for dulling to spine gilding, penciled notations to front free endpaper, general age-toning to leaves and binder's glue bleed-through to endpapers. Unclipped dust jacket ($1.25) with tears and chafing to edges (especially at head of spine), but remaining intact, bright and in new removable mylar protector.
