Harcourt, Brace and Company. 1950. tall8vo, 23,5cm, First edition. xix,[1],676p., publisher's blue cloth, gilt spine titles, in portrait illustrated dust-jacket, two tears at the top corner and some creasing, (not price clipped), a fine copy in very good complete jacket (Lt). ~ Sandburg was a prolific American author, writing poetry, fiction, biographies, history and children's literature to great acclaim. This collection of poetry includes earlier works: Chicago Poems (1916), Cornhuskers (1918), Smoke and Steel (1920), Slabs of the Sunburnt West (1922), Good Morning America (1928), The People, Yes (1936) and a section of poems not previously published elsewhere. He won the 1950 Pulitzer Prize for this book.
