The fourth of six volumes of the works of Aristophanes, "Edited, Translated, and Explained", with the original text fully annotated by the translator and followed by the translation. Scattered pencil marks, most commonly single brackets, and two prior owners' names at the front endpapers; front hinge starting; original cloth binding shows fraying at corners and spine ends, dimming of gilt titles and decoration, and some darking around the board edges; otherwise sound and attractive. lii, 247, xlii, 229, [9]pp. (two books bound in one volume). A contemporary reviewer in the Guardian commented that Rogers had "a delicate ear for rhythm, an inexhaustible fund of rhyme, genuine humour, and a knack of vigorous phrasing.
