Interior clean and fresh but for mild soiling and age-toning on title page. Binding shows moderate wear but very sound and tight. Giunti Fiorenza 1546 8vo. 102 ll. Alamanni's poem "Cultivation", influenced by Virgil's "Georgics", printed in Florence by Bernardo di Giunti in the same year as the Paris edition. Dedicated to Francis I of France, who gave the poet sanctuary when he fled Italy and the Medici. Elegant Italic type. Title page and last page have the printer's device, two children with a fleur-de-lis and "Nil Candidus" underneath. In 18th-century calf with raised bands and gilt decorated spine. Marbled endpapers.

Printed in Italics. 154 leaves (errata on last leaf verso), 2 unn. leaves (privilege in French, slightly shorter), 2 unn. leaves "Alla serenissima Madama la Dalphina". 8vo. 19th-century brown morocco with large blind-stamped centre medallion, 4 corner pieces and 4 smaller stamps, double gilt fillet around sides, flat spine with gilt lettering and fillets (corners slightly bumped). First edition, first issue of Alamanni's (1495-1556) didactic poem on husbandry in the tradition of Vergil's Georgica.
