Colophon slip case 1930 for Parts 1-4 solander box by Peter Franck CASE ONLY

Includes the insert from The Colophon Part 5 advertising Franck's cases. IF you have any interest in the books that go into the case - I have the finest set you can find, hand-picked over 30 years - ASK. 11 1/4 x 9 3/4 x 3 inches. Peter Franck made slip cases for the first 20 parts of The Colophon. The case consists of a folding linen covered protective envelope which slides into an outer case. The outer case has stout tan linen covered sides with a back of first grade pigskin. The back has been shaped into what looks like four separate volumes with "The Colophon" and year as well as the numbered parts in the case all scored and blind stamped. All the cases were handmade on order. As per image of the insert (included), The Colophon did not produce the cases; they just facilitated the ordering and handed the proceeds to Peter Franck. I have included an image of the top of the case showing Franck's distinctive logo embossed on the head. This is one of the cleanest (not age toned) cases I have seen in many years. I have only seen two other 1930 cases with a white leather like this in the last 30 years. You may have seen cases by other binders - typically with darker/toned leather. Minor scuffs and handling marks as per photos - in this case, on the inner liner, you can see a 1/2" tear.
