Rupert Hart-Davis, 1960. Hardcover. Good. 1960. Limited Edition. 219 pages. No dust jacket. Signed by the author. Quarter bound brown leather spine with marbled paper covered boards. Gilt lettering. Contains black and white wood engravings by Joan Hassall. Flat signed by author and illustrator to half title page. Copy no. 30 of 65 special edition copies bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe. Clean pages and wood engravings with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Ownership plate stuck to front pastedown. Top textblock edge dyed gilt. Binding remains firm. Adhesive from ex libris plate has cause a surface tear to front endpaper. Several small brown spots to fore edge. Slight tear and creasing to inner edge of second leaf. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Minor wear marks to boards. Slight scratches to rear of spine.
