About This Item
Alberta, Canada: Southern Alberta Art Gallery, 2001. Paperback. Good/Dust Jacket Included. Cold Cuts by Tania Kitchell presents a beautifully edited selection of the weather-related art work of Kitchell. Aerial photographs of snow-bound cities and landscapes seen during a white-out are followed by images of the artist burrowing through fields of snow. Rosemary Heather's essay "Your Information is Snow" and Eileen Sommerman's "Sources and Signs of Madness Have Changed," address these works as well as Kitchell's perforated (white) drawings of chill-inducing phrases and snowy landscapes, her narrative accounts of the weather conditions in popular movies and her sculptures made out of gloves and sweaters. Thematically tight, the work - and the book - reveal that the seemingly banal subject of weather is fertile territory for critical inquiry and artistic production. 132 pages, paper with stiff black cover. Dust jacket is missing. Edition of 1000. 9 1/4" x 5 3/4". Bend to top front cover corner. Inside in very good condition.
