3 quarto and 3 octavo hardcover volumes, 3/4 blue cloth with marbled boards and gilt red leather spine labels, each front paste-down with decorative bookplate and handstamp of Ingvald Lieberkind and his signature on 1 front flyleaf and on a few offprint covers, containing 71 offprints, many with signed inscriptions on covers. 72 plates (some lithographed, some folding, colored or tinted) and many text figures. Bindings very good, offprints unmarked with age-toning, overall very good. HEAVY SET WILL REQUIRE ADDITIONAL POSTAGE.

PROVENANCE: INGVALD KRISTIAN LIEBERKIND (1897-1972) was a Danis zoologist and marine biologist who edited the Asteride material from the Ingolf Expedition (1895-1896) as well as from the German Valdivia Expedition (1898-1899). He was also a well-known popularizer of science on Danish radio and television. His major work, The World of Animals, a popular science production of The Life of Animals in 12 volumes (1937-1942) reached a considerable circulation and came in several edited editions, most recently in 10 volumes 1961-1972.
