Rolled, creased at head & foot of spine. Slanted spine, skewed. Boards are slightly bowed. Soiled. Tanning, foxing on pastedowns/endpapers. Clean text. The dust jacket is in Fair condition. Creased, mainly along edges. Soiled, with what appears to be moisture stains along top and bottom edge (front). The dj is covered in an archival book cover (removable). "The book is copiously illustrated with plans, maps, drawings and photographs, giving a comprehensive picture of coal mining at the end of the nineteenth century. Contemporary newspapers were used in piecing together the histories of various operations, and a detailed bibliography is included."
