About This Item

London: Jonathan Cape, 1972. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Near Fine. 9" by 6". None. A first edition first impression of Len Deighton's Hollywood inspired fiction novel. First edition, first printing in original publisher's binding of Close Up by Len Deighton in original dust wrapper. Close Up follows the story of Marshall Stone, Hollywood elite and celebrity, trying to reclaim his youth by helping a writer start his biography. Scandals and upsetting memories make this difficult, and the biographer grapples with the new world of stardom. Deighton is credited for the abundant research which formed the basis of the novel, making this story both compelling and sadly realistic. Len Deighton is a British author best known for his spy and military novels, most notably Bomber (1970).Includes original dust wrapper, with publisher's clipping but with the price still showing. In original publisher's cloth binding with dust wrapper, with publisher's clipping but with price still showing. Externally, very smart. Dust wrapper is slightly worn to the extremities, with a small tear where it sits on the top of the front board. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Some spotting to the fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. Small mark to the front first endpaper, and to the publishing title page. Pages are very bright and clean. Near Fine
